1995 Lotus Esprit S4, factory black on tan. Lotus enthusiast owned for the last 7 years, and has been driven just over 3,500 miles in that time. It has been an occasional Southern California weekend driver (recently relocated to Washington State), garage kept and covered, on a battery tender for the last 7 years. It starts easily, runs, drives, shifts, brakes, and handles as beautifully as an Esprit should. Oil pressure is excellent, gearbox / transaxle is healthy, and it runs smoothly and within the correct temperature range. All electrical systems and lights work. The body and paint are in good shape overall, however there are plenty of age related fiberglass cracks, and road use rock chips / scratches throughout the paint. The interior is in nice shape with no stains or rips in the upholstery, and is very comfortable, even for longer trips. There are a couple of areas on the top of the dash where the leather has shrunk a bit. The dash wood also shows some age related cracks. Glass is all around is excellent and is the factory original Triplex. The AC system is complete, however it does not blow cold. The original systems from the factory leaked refrigerant over time and it likely just needs a recharge. The factory original OZ Futura wheels are a Lotus factory upgrade option and are extremely rare and difficult to find. These particular wheels are from an original Esprit S4S, and the original center cap covers are retained. This is a genuine, low mileage, approachable driver that you can actually take out and reliably enjoy.

This Esprit was purchased by the current owner in 2015 from a gentlemen in Connecticut who passed away. When first acquired in 2015, the following work was performed at Revolution Motorsport in Agora Hills, CA
– Oil pan was removed and resealed.
– Rear main seal was replaced because it was leaking. The leak saturated the clutch discs, which could not be cleaned and ultimately were replaced. Brand new clutch and new pilot bearing installed.
– Timing belt was replaced with a new Gates Racing Blue belt and new tensioner bearing. The alternator, AC, and water pump belts were also replaced.
– New oil and filter change
– Cooling system flushed and refilled
– Transaxle gear oil changed
– Brake fluid replaced
– Turbo was sent out for a rebuild and installed with a new gasket set.

-Alignment performed
-The ABS bake pressure switch was replaced with a new unit purchased from Lotus Marque in Australia – this is another common Esprit issue that has been addressed.
– Also around this time, the passenger’s side headlight, 3 plastic insert pieces, in the motor mechanism drive gear was replaced. The driver’s side headlight was previously fixed. This is a common Esprit issue that has been addressed.
– All rubber brake lines were replaced with steel braided lines. Clutch line was also replaced with steel braided line. Parts provided by JAE in Goleta, CA (20,188 miles).

– Ignition service including – New plug wires, new spark plugs, and ignition coils replaced. Parts provided by JAE in Goleta, CA
– Lower cam cover gasket and all O-rings replaced.
– Oil Service performed with New Castrol Edge Supercar full synthetic 10w60 oil and new filter.
– The fuel breather hose that connects both fuel tanks was replaced with new hose and clamps – yet another common Esprit issue that has been addressed.

– Oil Service performed with New Castrol Edge Supercar full synthetic 10w60 oil and new filter.
– Chargecooler pump rebuilt with kit from JAE
– Performance exhaust system from SJ Sportscars in the UK installed. Original system with cat is retained on hand.
– New Air Filter
– New blow off valve (dump valve kit) from PNM engineering in the UK installed. Original parts are retained on hand.
– New set of AVO adjustable shocks front and rear installed. Currently corner balanced for a driver 180 lbs.
– Transaxle output shaft seals replaced. No leakage from seals. New MT90 fluid installed.
– New rear lower control arm bushings, new upper ball joints, new tie rod ends, and new sway bar bushings. 4 – wheel alignment performed.
– New set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ Ultra High Performance tires installed.
– New clutch master and slave cylinders installed.

All documentation and receipts for the work performed and parts purchased have been retained. Original owner’s manual is included. Passes CA smog with original equipment installed.
